日本でもMicrosoft社製品などが普及し、単一のホストコンピュータだけではなく
オープン系システムとして製造元が異なる複数の製品を使用する事が多くなっています。
(特にホストコンピュータ限定の時代以降に設立された組織)
オープン系システムは拡張しやすく導入しやすい利点があります。
次第に事業拡大などで組織が発展していき組織内で利用されているオープン系システムも大きくなり
(利用する製品が多くなるのは避けにくくなる)複雑な構成になります。
その結果、製品を購入した組織がシステム環境について、組織外の協力者(エンジニア)・協力組織に 手助けを求める事が一般的です。
製品の製造元は自社製品を保証範囲としている都合上、製品の製造元の社員だけでは
複数の製造元の製品を利用している組織のシステム環境全体を保証する事はできません。
(日本社会は法制度に裏付けされている事もあり、転職が一般的ではありませんでした。
製品の製造元と特定の製品の製造元と関係が強く結びついていない独立系システムインテグレータを 比較すると
独立系システムインテグレータの社員と製造元内の組織内にいる社員と異なるので全く同じではあり ません。
＃特定の製造元の製品の資格を保有している独立系システムインテグレータの社員と
製造元内の組織内にいる社員と異なる事も同じ理由です。)
この結果、何らかの内容(組織間の関係や個人経歴の違いで差が生じやすい事柄)で
製品の製造元に近い組織・個人のエンジニアが必要になる事があります。
